Gondolas & The Gold Coast
Wanderlust Issue II - April 3, 2020
While we haven't received any book reports - yet, we do thank you for your wonderful feedback because it brought cheer to our day just to hear from you. If you're like us, you have blown through the good streaming shows and the best-seller list already, so hopefully you'll enjoy some of our old favorites from our beloved destinations.
What We're Watching....
The Academy Award winning film has an all-star cast of familiar faces you'll recognize among the cast of mostly British actors. Set between England and Florence we find ourselves longing for like-minded settings like the Villa Cora or enjoying a cocktail from the
Portrait Firenze terrace.
Double dips with two stunning properties, first the Four Seasons Ocean Club where 007 finds plenty of comfort, and the Belmond Cipriani, Venice’s iconic gem set on an island all its own. We think the Cipriani is sexier than 007, particularly if you opt for a lagoon suite with private terrace. Perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary.
Red Sparrow This espionage thriller will take you from Moscow to Vienna to Budapest, with a layover in London. While our experiences at the Corinthia have been nothing but off the charts fantastic, the characters in this film aren’t so lucky. It’s tradecraft that will keep you at the edge of your seat, but makes us long for our favorite hotel in London. Midnight in Paris
Woody Allen never fails to include an homage to the city where he films. Oetker Collection’s Le Bristol in Paris sets the stage for this whimsical ode to Paris’ left bank and the authors who made it famous in the Roaring 20’s.

With a nod to one of our favorite hotels not just in the US, but the world over, the Beverly Hills Hotel is more than the real life inspiration for the Hotel California album cover. Off the Shelf
Gold Coast, Nelson DeMille
Some have described this as "the Godfather meets the Great Gatsby". We tend to agree, so escape to the Hamptons and the Gurney's Hamptons for this sardonic and suspenseful novel.
Thornbirds, Colleen McCullough
Set in the majestic Australian Outback, this forbidden love story will have you ready for the Australian bush and nowhere does it better than Longitude 131.
I Was Vermeer, Frank Wynne
Travel between France and the Netherlands with the greatest art forger of the 20th century. From the walls of the Rijksmuseum to Amsterdam in the throes of World War II, if you appreciate fine art particularly the Dutch Masters, you’ll appreciate this nonfiction account of Han Van Meegeren. At Hotel De L’Europe, admire exquisite replicas from Dutch Masters including Rembrandt van Rijn and Frans Hals decorating the walls in all guestrooms and suites.

Behind The Scenes at Camelback Travel with Taryn Deschaine
Aperol Spritzes by the pool, world class sushi by Chef Nobu, and dancing the night away; these are a few of our favorite things. While working from home we have been reminiscing of those amazing adventures we’ve shared with friends and family just a few months ago. One of our advisors, Taryn Deschaine, reflects on her first Crystal Cruise onboard the Symphony in September. This experience was made even more special after Taryn’s mom was able to join her. Traveling with your loved ones makes these fond memories that much sweeter when you’re apart. Taryn says “It took no time for us to unpack and settle right into our vacation routine right away. We started every morning with our specialty coffees from The Bistro in hand and walked the Promenade Deck chatting about the fun things we had planned for that day.” Whether it was a catamaran sail around the arch of Cabo San Lucas, horseback riding on the beach, or just spending the day at the Spa, there was no end to the activities offered on and off the ship. As the cruise came to an end in Puerto Vallarta, the fun did not and they were transferred to Punta Mita for a few days to enjoy the sun and the sand at the stunning Four Seasons Punta Mita. The property is expansive with so much to discover, such as the tropical lazy river we floated the afternoon away on. If you asked Taryn her ideal vacation she would say any adventure that she is able to share with her favorite people.
Those movie picks are great. I remember reading The Thornbirds so many years ago that it just might be fun to revisit that book. Also, Love that picture of you Taryn.
