Onboard The Regent Seven Seas Explorer

REGENT SEVEN SEAS EXPLORER: billed the most luxurious ship ever built. True? It is very nice and new with great new features and some stunning public spaces and staterooms. The big headline is the food, it is a vast improvement from what I have experienced in the past, and I would struggle to agree with a client who complained about it, particularly in the specialty dining restaurants.

  • Prime 7: steak and seafood, decadently good and as enjoyable as a meal at Mastros.

  • Pacific Rim: Japanese with a touch of sushi. So good we ate there twice.

  • Chartreuse: French cuisine, and quite good.

  • The main dining room menu varies, in that they offer “favorites” every day, which is a list of their greatest hits such as, escargot and beef carpaccio, with a selection of fish and meats with your choice of sauce, everything from steak, salmon, sea bass, lobster tail, lamb served as you like. Then, a changing menu you would normally see on the left hand side, with different options every day, and a Canyon Ranch menu that is healthy with one offering per course with calorie, fat contents and nutritional data.

This highlights of the ship are the Canyon Ranch Spa, the size of the staterooms, variety in evening/cocktail venues and number of suites.

Insider tips:

Pay attention to the stateroom size as it compares to the older ships, as the categories feel different:

  • Unlike on the three existing ships where the concierge suites are the exact same as verandas with a few perks, the concierge should be sold more like penthouses based on the size. The stateroom is identical to the SUPERIOR verandas, but the veranda size is significantly larger with a chaise lounge, table and chairs - they are fabulous!

  • Everything below the Superior veranda is comparable to existing verandas on other ships

  • The penthouse offers a separate living area and bedroom separated by a wall/partition. Penthouses are the ONLY category that feature shower only

  • Regent Seven Seas Suite comes standard with a second bedroom. It also features the in-room spa with sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, daily car and driver, and included spa treatments
